B12 Shots and depression

I will be starting b12 shots on Monday for poor energy. My friend says that she takes them in the winter when she starts thinking about tdeath a lot. I have seasonal depression and I too think about death a lot when I get depressed. Have any of you taken b12 to help boost energy and did it help with depression at all?

I started taking them for malnutrition when my gallbladder went bad.  The depression from vitamin deficiency and from your muscles wasting away is really bad.  I also take multivitamin with minerals and I'm trying to eat better.  I definitely feel better when I can keep a couple of pounds on.  It's hard to say if the B12 shots made me feel better, but I kind of felt like they were a rope ladder thrown down to me in my well of gloom.  I only received 2 or 3, whenever I'd see the surgeon.  Adding whey protein at my neighbor's suggestion, seemed to help.
