Been on Prozac a week now

Does Prozac cause you to feel more depressed at first before it starts working,,,i also had to start taking it in the evening as it makes me sleepy,,,and does it cause weight gain...im also  im xanax which i think is helping

I was on prozac a long time and it did not cause weight gain.  It's been so long that I don't remember it making me depressed at first but I believe I was feeling some positive effects within a week or two.  If you are not feeling any better in a couple of weeks, I would definitely discuss with my p-doc; perhaps prozac is not the med for you.

Hi. You should report any adverse effects to your doctor in accordance with prescribing and dosing information that should have been given to you. You can also run a google search to find info from the pharmaceutical company that makes it. All antidepressants can have different effects on different people, especially at first. The appearance of suicidal ideation should be taken very seriously, and brought to your doctors attention ASAP. Take care, GM

something i always worrry about is meds affecting blood sodium level and i read in the prozac pacakage insert where prozac can cause it,im wondering if this is comman or if anyone has had any proble,s with it
