"Brain Zaps"

I have read alot of the comments about withdrawals from antidepressants and "brain zaps" as a result. I have taken prozac for years and did not have any problems but had the feeling that it wasn't helping any longer. My doctor switched me to Cymbalta and I have been taking it for 2 months. The first "zaps started several weeks ago and were intermittent, then they became daily and the symptoms were worse each time. I was experience these symptoms while taking not from withdrawal, why? It is a terrible feeling! I am taking the Omega 3 now to see if that will help. I have stopped taking the Cymbalta, I will go back to the prozac. With all of this happening to people why are these symptoms not listed as side effects? I would not advise anyone take this medication.

Hi, I knew brain zaps occured when withdrawing from Effexor.  I had them bad.  When they list side effects of drugs, they do not list withdrawal symptoms.  The brain zaps do not occur except when withdrawing.  If you are getting them now, perhaps the anti-depressant you are on is not the right one for you.

I took Prozac for a month, and the side effects I had were terriuble, and I had to be taken off it.  Different people react to drugs differently.  I had to try a few, before I found the right one for me.  Many people say Effexor is evil, but it is only the withdrawal from it that is so bad.  For me it is the right drug, with no side effects whatsover.

Sounds like the Cymbalta is not the right one for you.   Obviously, you see, prozac suits you, but not me.  It is too scary to read side effects, as often they do not occur.
