Chantix and Suicide

I am looking for other people who experienced suicidal thoughts or attempted suicide while taking this medication, I took it and this happened to me. I know there are alot of others out there. The company is trying to corner the history of depression as a reason but these are life threatening side effects occurring to alot of people. I almost lost my life, husband, and 18 month son. It is great for not smoking, and in that aspect it worked. But now I am recovering from what happened and still am not feeling better. I am honestly thinking of contacting a lawyer, because while on this medication people noticed me crying, and then happy. My concentration was not right even though I was not aware of it being related. I almost lost and may still loose my job.

Try to understand that Chantix is a powerful psycotropic medication. Yes, it is designed to help stop smoking, but in the end it really is very simmilar in structure to antidepressant medications in the way it acts on brain receptors.

Do I think it could cause suicidal actions? Sure I do. It is conmmon (or at least I thought) common knowlege that ANY psycotropic medication IF TAKEN BY ANY PERSON THAT DOES NOT ALREADY SUFFER A SPECIFIC MENTAL ILLNESS CAN BE PLAYING WITH FIRE.

I take Psycotropic medication because I have a severe depressive and anxiety dissorder. I can say for fact that if I did not have this dissorder and still tried these medications that I would become VERY mentally sick.

You see the connection now that I am getting at?

Chantix is nothing more than a re-arranged psycotropic medication that modifies brain chemistry.

For people that want to stop smoking - DON'T TAKE ANY DRUG THAT ALTERS YOUR BRAIN CHEMISTRY LIKE CHANTIX.

These drugs can profoundly effect the mood receptors of anyone that is not already suffering a mental illness.

This same bad reaction happens all the time to people that take antidepressant meds when they don't really have a true mental depression of the brain.

I don't have high blood pressure, but if I took high bllod pressure medication then because I don't have high blood pressure the results could be deadly.

Psycotropic medications are no different. They are designed to treat specific types of mental illness ONLY.

Chantix is nothing more than another Psycotropic medication.

I hate that the FDA even approved that drug. It's like they said, "oh yea, it's fine to tamper with a healthy persons mental health if we can get them to stop smoking."

I can think of 100 better ways to stop smoking rather than taking a powerful Psycotropic medication.

I understand that going in to this you did not know this fact. It's not your fault. It's your doctors fault for not fully informing you about Chantix and how it alters brain chemistry.
