Concern for someone close to me!!!!

I am concerned about my best friend. She just currently arrived home from being in an acute mental health unit for 6 weeks. She is just starting to get her memories back. She was not even sure who I was for a short period of time. She now remembers me and most of our memories that we have shared through the years. She still does not know her husband. The doctor she was seeing at the health unit says that she suffers from manic depression. She is on medication for bi-polar disorder and depression along with other tranquilizers to keep her calm. When these episodes hit her, it is taking longer for her to remember anything. She also had schizophrenic episodes when they hit her. She suffered from a stroke when she was 32 years old. Could the sroke be the reason this is happening to her now? How can I help her if she starts to show symptoms of severe depression again?? Please help me!!! I really am afraid that one day she will have another episode and maybe she will not regain her memory next time.

Did she have ECT while in the hospital? If so then that would explain the memory issues.
