Controlling Boyfriend

I have lived with my boyfriend for a few months now. Before i met him i let quite a few men either take advantage of me of at least try to. I have rubbish self esteem and always have. I used to get drunk/ high a lot to make myself feel better, and when i was in that state i just let people do whatever to me because i thought i was nothing. I dont get drunk or high anymore though. I respect my self more now.

But my boyfriend has started to not let me listen to metal or wear band t shirts (which take up most of my wardrobe). If i dont do as he says he will chuck me out. I realy love him so i just do what he says and pretend everything is ok. But i feel like ****. I hate pretending to be someone im not.

He wants  me out of the metal lifestyle all together. He says that it makes me look like and tramp and that i listen to **** music. Basically its either him or metal. By the way I dont have a job at the moment and my family dont have room for me, so i will probably be homeless if i leave him. Please help me.

p.s:
he also wants me stop listening to metal etc because the people i used to hang out with also liked it. And the main reson i hung out with them is because they were into it too. They treated me like **** though as i said before. He thinks that if i like metal, i will go back to my old self and that everyone that likes it are pathetic/ losers.

hi funeralmoon,if you didnt like been treated like **** before,and want to get away from it ,can i ask you why you still want listen to metal ,does it not bring back memories of how bad you were treated ,leaving out how your boyfriend feels about it ,i really dont think he is controlling you i think he just wants you not to have that metal because of what you suffered with all those other people ,i think you should get rid of it to for your own sake,if you really love him you should start a new life with him .dont rune your love because  of metal ,try and look at from his point he is only thinking of you going back to that life you had ,and as for pathetic/losers he might be just trying to get you to Liston to him ,after all something brought you to him in the first place ,i think hes just looking out for you ,i think he wants you to show him you are there for him and not the people you were with ,and dont forget men think different to wemon ,good look with him ,and take care ,try and have a good life with him ,
