Could my pychiatrist send me away?

Could my pychiatrist send me away?

I have an appointment tomorrow morning to talk about my suicidal thoughts. Could she send me to get inpatient help? Under what conditions could she and would she require to?

The general criteria is when a person is "dangerous to themselves or others". When a person has active suicidal ideations a psychiatrist may be required to seek to have a person hospitalized. When a person has suicidal ideations that are just thoughts but not active intentions that is less likely. Either way its essential to discuss these concerns with your psychiatrist so they can resolve what is happening now. Also sometimes depending on what is happening in patient treatment can be of help. I recently had thoughts of this nature that were not active and was able to have a conversation with my psychiatrist that was of help to me. Its always worthwhile to discuss any concerns of this nature.
