Day 1 - reduced meds and diet stuff

I decided to give lowering my dose a try. I still plan to see my doctor in the near future and let him know what I'm doing, but I don't want to wait like two weeks to get in to see him. We HAVE tried this before, a year ago.

I am trying to reduce my medication from 60 to 40 mg of celexa. This is day one. I expect to start feeling side effects by day 3 or 4.

I normally feel terrible anyway. I suspect this has to do with my diet. My doctor says I have a very high metabolism (even though I'm overweight) because I process sugars very quickly. Tjis makes me crash quickly and makes me hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) Because of tbis I crave high-sugar and high-calorie foods, which makes me overweight and makes me crash hard and feel awful - headaches are constant, weariness, difficult concentrating, "the shakes" etc.

I just don't like eating anything that isn't a chocolate muffin or onion rings. An apple? Meh. I'd rather go hungry.
The funny thing is that I only feel this way when I am at school or at home. At work, I can work a full shift without eating a thing and never feel tired or have a headache of anything. It seems "busy-ness" is the key.

Anyone else have this problem, or feel something like this may bhe contributing to how terrible they feel?

Hi,

Why are you "giving it a try" going down on meds? The only result will be feeling worse you know. You've said so yourself.

Wait and see the doctor. What you are doing is appointing yourself as the expert on both depression and medication and I'd like you to think about when you became qualified to make those decisions? Did you become a psychiatrist one night or something?

Do you get it? You are doing things that are against medical advice and you will be complaining to the doctor shortly that things aren't working. But I bet you won't tell him or her that you've been self medicating and deciding what is workable will you?

You say you go to school and work and take these meds. How old are you? You also say some really odd things about food. You blame food for your problems by the sound of it and then admit to only eating muffins and onion rings.

Good grief, please resume your meds properly and wait to see a doc, doing what you are talking about is a certain trail to a worse outcome.

Maybe post your question, if it was intended to be one, about the high metabolism-high desire for sugar issue in the nutrition forum as well. You have an interesting post, but I don't know if you want to change your diet as a test solution to help feeling better, and this depression forum might not be able to give you much help on that subject.
As whodunnit sort of says, how do you know if the diet affects your mood? If you think it does, why cut the med instead of seeing if rearranging your diet is possible?

Also, there is no reason to go off meds unless you are feeling good, so stick to the meds until you see the doc.
