Deanxit is permanent

Hello,
My father went through NPH surgery a year ago, he is 62 now. Since then he is slowly getting depression and angerness. Mostly becuase we dont let him smoke.Smoking was cause great effect on his personal life. His nuro surgen gave Deanxit tab, one each day in the morning. This has helped him very much. He sleeps very well now, always quiet and calm. Pretty much stopped smoking. This all happened in last one month. However, since last couple of weeks he seem to be more confused. He has short term memory issue but that was very mild before he started Deanxit.
We took him to a local Psychiatrist who then explained that he has brain cell damages due to NPH problem and which is not reversable. So he just suggested to continues Deanxit. Problem is that he is getting very confused and absolutely no concentration on whatsoever.
So does my father needs to continues taking Deanxit forever ? can he gradually stop, like taking half a day ?

Thanks, A

I had a lower lumba spinal fusion done twice because of a problem one in April and again in June 2009. I have found it very difficult since then to control my anger and cry very easiley. I went to see my doctor who prescribed Deanxit. I have now taken them for 4 week although i am a little better i am no where near as feeling as i should. I am still having major outburst and cry daily. Would you say i am on the wrong medication or should i up the dose. I am taking 1 per day.

Deanxit is a combination of two psycho-active agents, flupentixol and melitracen.

You probably won't find too many people on this board that take Deanxit. It's just not one of the more common drugs out there. In fact I don't even know anyone that takes it.

It's used more often for Bi-polar, and is more of an Anti-anxiety medication rather than an antidepressant, although it does have some anti-depressant properties.

If I recall, Deanxit is more often prescribed in Europe than it is in the States. Not sure why that is.

As for you fathers NPH. What is that? Did he have a brain surgury?
