Disability

Is any one out there on any kind of disability for depression? I feel like I'm starting to lose my mind so I called a disability lawyer today and started the process of attempting to get it. I just feel like I can't take it anymore and the only thing that I need to work on at this point in my life is getting my head screwed on straight. I just got off of Paxill and I've been feeling really irritable lately so I thought that it was just from that but, when I started to look back and think of how I used to feel before I started the process of getting better I realized that I feel the same way. I just feel like I'm going to snap and I just can't take it anymore! I seem to show all of the signs of Borderline Personality Disorder as well and it seems that depression and anxiety stem from that. I just want to know if any one out there is on disability and if they can tell me how good my chances are of getting it. I just can't stand this anymore! Everything in life is such a struggle and I feel like I'm going to snap on someone. I feel like I can't do anything. I'm working a totally dead end job at a sandwich shop and I'm so scared to take another job because I have no confidence in myself and can't seem to learn a new skill. Just getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. I seem to feel better at times and at others I seem to feel like there's no hope. I think that I'm always on the verge of getting fired because I keep losing my temper and there are times that I can't stop crying. Do I stand a chance?

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to talk to my doctor and give it a shot. I've been dealing with this my whole life and every time I get one issue resolved another one seems to knock me back down. You guys know how it is. I also believe that my temper is a big problem as well and if I lose it then I might do something that I'll regret and can't take back. I can't even find a job that I can pay my bills with and if I end up with no source of income at all then I won't be able to get the medication that keeps me barely a float.

Yes, you can. It will be a long road, though, and a doctor would have to basically state that you are unable to work due to your depression.

When you file, you will be denied at first, but if you have a disability lawyer, that will help.

You're looking at six months to a year of work, though.

My psychologist mentioned that you can get a disability for depression. Unfortunately, that's where that part of the conversation ended so I don't know anything else, but I say you definately have a shot.
