My cousin had ETC in 1965 when he was 15. He was suddenly Paralyzed from the chest down with no apparent reason or warning. Just pain in his upper back.
They went through all the testing and spinal taps, x-rays etc and decided because they could not find any physical problem he was suffering from Hysterical Paralysis.
ECT was given as he was locked away from his family for 2 months
He got about 70% of his legs and feeling. It has been debatable and later diagnosed as Virus that would have improved on it's own.
He has been told that they were wrong in giving ETC to such a young person.
