Effexor XL - getting off

by Debdd, Feb 27, 2009 03:35PM
I have been taking effexor for about 7 years.  I also take a cocktail of Wellbutrin xl and topomax (topamax).  I recently lost my benefits and cannot afford topomax (topamax) and effexor xl.  I know from trying in the past that I do not do well off of the medication.  I have tried in the past to go off of depression medications and have never been able to succeed.

What can you do to find out if you can successfully go off the medication and be well without it or whether the withdrawals are what you are experiencing.  How long does it take your system to be able to work without taking depression medication or after this long will I ever be able to go off of it.  If I can't go off of medication as a whole is Effexor the safest one for me to continue to take indefinelty?
