Effexor XR Withdrawals

by stacyb23, Aug 21, 2007 09:14PM
I have been on Effexor XR since 2003, a couple of years ago I had to try to wean myself off the medicine do to my insurance company only covering generic medicines, and when I did so, I followed the doctors strict orders........I slowly weaned myself off for over 5 wks.......two days after the 5 wks, it was a nightmare!! Uncontrollable crying, very dizzy, to the point where I couldn't drive!! It was the worst thing ever, so I had to come up witht he cash to pay for the medicine and get back on it, or else I think I would have died seriously........these symtoms happen to me even if I miss one dose of the medicine as well........I am on 125 milligrams a day.......could someone please tell me what is going on for this to do this to me when I miss a dose or try to wean off of it?? I have asked a few doctors and I honestly think they do not believe me!!! Thank you!

Effexor may not be the right med for you.I went through many meds before I got on the 2 I am on now.On the other hand I am bi polar so I get the manic highs as well as the depression. If the docs dont believe you, change docs till you get one that does.
If you dont mind me asking, why do you want to stop the med? I know that in the past I would quit my meds as soon as I started to feel better thinking I didnt need them anymore but it was the meds making feel normal so needless to say I spiralled back into bi polar hell.
So I hope this helps let me know how it goes for you.
Love Venora
