Effexor and Sexual Dysfunction

I am in my late 50's. My husband had open heart surgery plus bladder cancer. plus COPD. He was not able to have sex.  I was given Effexor for my depression. I had taken it for nearly three years. After I felt I did not need it anymore, I came off of it. Very hard to do. It took those three years for my husband to recover and become sexually active again. By this time, I was totally sexually dysfunctional. I was totally turned off by the thought of sex. Another problem. When we did attempt sex, I had found that it was extremely painful. I went to the doctor and he prescribed Premarin cream. My vagina, with no sexual contact for three years, had atrophied.
I feel like Effexor has permanent side effects. Is this possible?

Effexor can cause sexual dysfunctions. There is a theory called Post SSRI sexual dysfunction. (effexor is not ssri but same ****) Many people never recovered after stopping the meds. All you can do is to give it more time and see what happens.
