Emsam

After years of trial and error I am left with the opportunity to try Emsam for treatment-resistant depression. It is the only category of antidepressants left. My doctor prescribed other meds that were off-label to no avail and last year I was treated 12 times with ECT. I've titrated off Wellbutin, Lithium and Cymbalta to prepare for an MAOI. Currently I take 200mg Provigil BID and am impatiently waiting this new trial. I am hopeful but I am also desperate. This lifestyle is not acceptable. Statistically my life should be envied. I have everything going on.......physical health, financial stability, marriage and family, relative youth, a relationship with God...everything. Ugh!

Tomorrow I see my doctor and am eager to start the Emsam and eager to see results. What is your opinion of this drug and do you think it would be appropriate for me to ask her for Mirapex as well? My mom is taking it for RLS which I have and being that it is a dopamine agonist could it also promote my emotional state? Provigil provides some relief from the hypersomnia and unfortunately Wellbutrin is contraindicated with the MAOI.
