Excessive Psychogenic Lachrymation

by DoctorB, Oct 31, 2009 03:50AM
Can excessive psychogenic lachrymation cause pharyngitis/laryngitis or respiratory problems? If so, can it also(possibly/eventually) cause any major (as in medication/hospitalization requiring) problems such as internal hematoma/hemorrhaging, infections, MI etc. ? (hypathetical) i.e. pt crying for approx. 8 hrs before falling asleep. Pt coughing bloody sputum after waking, complaining of chest pain (r/o MI). Minor note: dry cough throughout sleep of approx. 10 hrs (likely due to throat irritation?)

You might need to go to one of the expert forums for an answer.
I don't think it is necessarily the tears that cause the problem but the stress/ distress.
You will know that emotional stress can be a trigger for asthma, etc.
The stress may compromise ones immune system.
Try one of the expert forums.  You may have more luck there.

Hang on,have faith and pray to God he will help you in your moment of need which is now. Get a Bible and read Job. Look at what happened to him. He lost everything and i mean  EVERYTHING! But he put his faith in God and God blessed him and gave him much more than what he lost. Trust me read it.

I'm not sure what you mean.
Is it me who needs the faith or yourself?
I was a bit confused as to why you addressed this to me or why it was on this particular post. ??  So I looked up your profile and read one of your posts.
I think your anxiety and mood issues are related to life changes or transitions.  Finishing school, looking at your life ahead.  I think you may be feeling confused or stuck and may need help with direction.  I would recommend psychotherapy.  ?Or a job??
I think everything happens for a reason and I'm sure there is a life purpose for us all.

It's OK, nothing to be sorry for.  I was just confused.  I didn't know what you were trying to say (other than what you did say).
It's OK to post I just wasn't sure of the context.  You sound a little like me in some respects.  It sounds like you have really, really low self-esteem and self-confidence.
Post all you want, it what makes these communities.

Wow that kind of caught me off guard, i do agree to some parts. I do have low self esteem bit not really really low self esteem. Its all good, what things do we have in common. "you sound like me in some respects"

I was referring to the self-esteem.  I just thought it was interesting how you apologized.  I think we're all equals here and it's a public forum so you have every right to post what and where you like (according to medhelp terms and conditions).
I just felt your comment exposed an insecurity.
I wonder if that is how your parents treat you or expect you to behave.
