i work very closely with my psychiatrist in regards to my medication and wellness. my therapist has access to the notes and information and each can contact the other if need be. i dont know how many people accept prescriptions or sample packs of medications that affect the neurotransmitters without any attempt at treating the problems with talk therapy first. at the very least, it is nice to have the support for the problems that arise from increasing dosages or trying out a new medication. medication for depression/bi-polar, anxiety can be very VERY difficult. i couldnt imagine suriving it if i had to do it alone.
You're on the thyroid board too, right?
No, my OBGYN (med manager) doesn't know I'm seeing a therapist. I was/am a little embarrassed about it.
yes I have been in therapy for 6 years and it has been great.I am still bipolar but I have been able to go from 20mg of zyprexa to 5 mg of zyprexa.I have been so nice and stable now.it is good you like your therapist.
Does your therapist work with your med manager? Mine does.and it has been great too.
It was hard to be honest with myself and the therapist. But it has so been worth it.
good luck and let me know how things go for you.
