I stopped taking EffexorEffexor Effexor xr XR four months ago and I've been on CitalopramCitalopram Citalopram hydrobromide for the past 2 months. It's not helping and I want to go back to EffexorEffexor Effexor xr which helped me a lot more. For both meds I had to go through a month of hell before they started to work. Will I need another month for EffexorEffexor Effexor xr to start working again or will my body remember it and therefore will allow it to start working straight away?
Another alternative that I have found even more effective is Pristiq. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor and is almost identical in every way.
I found relief with Effexor for several years, but now that I am taking Pristiq I have found it to be even more effective than Effexor. I like the Pristiq better because it seems to work faster and doesn't cause the constipation that Effexor can often cause.
People who in the past responded well to Effexor seem to do even better on Pristiq. They both have the exact same SNRI property.
But in answering your question, yes it will still take time for any new or former AD drug to take effect.
