Going off of pain meds.

Going off of pain meds.

I have always suffered from depression and anxiety from it. But over the past year I have had three surgeries and feel i am ready to go back to work and went off of all of my pain pills. It has been a rough 6 days now but I am feeling like my old self sometimes. It comes and goes. But I am becoming very depressed and feel like somebody died?

WEll of course it feels like that after 3 surgeries.I had 2 last year and I know it was like a piece of myself died. Then I found I had thyroid cancer so I have gone thorugh all kind of depression and sadness and anger and  you name it.
Allow yourself to grieve over what you have gone through.# surgeries are rough on mentally and spiritually as well asp hysically. So give yourself to heal.
If you feel like you are staying depressed for a long time dont be afraid to reach out for help.See your doc and tell them how you are feeling.
I am bi polar and I have written volumes in my journal and talked my therapist's ear off about what I have been going through.OH and the thyroid forum too and coming here to help others
What surgeries did you have if you dont mind me asking?Just talking about stuff helps so much and this is a great place to talk.Any time I will listen .
I will send you healing energies .Be good to yourself
Love Venora.

My first surgery was in feb. sinus surgery to due getting sinus infections every couple of weeks, then in july i had a hysterectomy and then in september i had to have repair surgery because of it. I started taking way to many pain pills to cover all of my pain. i am now coming clean and hurting. i am no where near you are and i am sorry to hear what you are going thru. my story seems nothing like yours, i thank you for responding and wish you only the best.

I had to go to a detox to get off pain meds and when I got home I felt so depressed , like I had lost my best friend. I think it just takes awhile to get used to not having the euphoric effects of the pain meds. So I think time will help.
