Help with withdrawal from very short-term Paxil

Hi all,

I am 32 years-old, and took Paxil for 2 days only approximately 3 months ago, in order to help me with anxiety related to breaking up with my boyfriend.  I accidentally began with a whole dose of 20 mg, then the next day took the proper 1/2 dose of 10 mg, and then stopped the medication because I felt overly anxious and unable to calm down.

Since then, I have been experiencing muscle twitching all over my body that has made it difficult to sleep.  I am now on Trazadone to sleep through the night.  It does seem to be getting better, albeit slowly, as some nights I am actually able to sleep without the medication, whereas in the first month, I often needed Ativan plus someone to hold me at night, as the twitching so physically and emotionally rattled me.

My question to you:  Have you ever heard of this?  The psychiatrist who prescribed it said never, the neurologist I saw said never, and my doctor, who has had more experience with antidepressant withdrawal, said she has seen it, but only with people who have been on Paxil for years, not simply two or three days.

Please, please help.  If you can provide me with any information or direct me to anyone who might know how to help my body to continue to heal, I would be so very grateful.

With much gratitude,

Marina

You weren't on the medication long enough for withdrawal to happen.  I've not heard of this, but if it's getting better that's a good sign.  Maybe it was a reaction to the medication, but it would have left your system quickly with you only being on it for 2 days.  Sorry I can't be of more help, I'm sure there are others who may be able to direct you in the right direction.  Take care....

Hi... it's a good thing you didn't go through with the paxil for those ssri's are ugly drugs with many uncomfortable side effects. Trazadone I used a couple of times and boy that was a strong drug I hated it. For the muscle twitches look into magnesium malate or citrate it has to be the acidic form and for the insomnia check out tunguska mist PM spray it worked wonders when I didn't want to take the trazadone or anything else. It has a bunch of different adaptogens and some melatonin and works quickly. Ativan is a nasty little drug also the rebound sucked. Check out a website called curezone and got to the truth in medicine forum the forum moderator is super knowledgeable and can help you tons... ABe

I myself believe that paxil is responseable for your problems. Paxil just as prozac have caused very serious problems even when only 1 pill has been taken. But, Don't take it from me. Please check out xxx.xxx or search the web for more on this from someone who has researched this more than anyone, Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, she is the front runner for drugawareness.org and has written a book on these drugs. She also has investagated several cases where these drugs have hurt so many. I hope you can find help and I think this will be of great help to you. good luck and God bless.
