My dr took me off of effexor xr 37.5 mg, even though  i told him i am very sensitive  cant stop taking it. So for over a month i have been sick and fatigued and barely left the house.  They told me im deressed and to start doing things and i will feel better. Tried that made me more tired. I  took an effexor the other day and felt better, I know I went off the pill too quickly. Now  my problem is the dr doesnt return my calls, ive lost my job due to this medicine mess and have no money or insurance. I found a website that says how to taper off the effexor xr pills, by switching to effexor tablets just taking it 12 hours apart and reduciong the pill by 10% a month. So since ive been off the pills for so long  I am not sure if i should go back to taking the effexor xr 37.5 pill or just go with the tablet and at how much should i take it. Yesterday I started at 12.5 in the morning and it makes me feel better emotionally but im tired and headachy. I just need some advice what to do here, I dont want to be on the meds, but by going off so quickly made me sick and I need to start again and taper more slowly so I can get off these things for good. If anyone can help me, I have noone else at this point to ask.
Thanks
Kellie

It's gonna be ok kelliebellie. Look here's the deal, 37.5Mgs a day of Effexor is the absolute smallest effective amount. This is good news if you want to stop because people who are taking lower dosages of Effexor usually have an easier time with discontinuation.

I used to take 350Mgs a day of Effexor for 5 years. So you see, I'm still living and you will be ok too.

First thing; We need to step back and re-evaluate the situation first. If you want to stop Effexor fine, I can show you how. First lets look at the reasons why your wanting to stop Efffexor.

So first question> Exactly why do you want to stop Effexor?

Hi again, I am not an expert on SSRI'S but do know from my own experience that very slow tapering is the way to get off one. Your Dr. disgusts me by ignoring you and giving you such advice in this Blah Blah way. Without insurance you can get free help through the county health department. They can direct you to programs that are no cost. Also if you went to the emergency room they have to treat you with or without insurance. Its the law. I am a bit confused as to why the Dr wanted you to stop the effexor in the first place. If it works for you you should be on it. Always reach out like you are now. You are not alone.
