Hi to all-any experiences with effexor?

by streetfiter, Mar 22, 2008 04:52PM
Started taking effexor 75 mg about a month ago.  Havent had any bad side effects, but dont think they are working too well either.  Have heard real good things and real bad things about this drug.  Any relevant experiences are greatly appreciated!       Peace be with all.

I've taken Effexor for years now at various dosages.  I maxed at 300 mg, but I experienced sexual side effects and eventually reduced the dosage.  At the same time, I began taking 20 mg of Lexipro.  This como has worked for me for about a year.

You shouldn't try to judge the drug's effectiveness after one month at 75 mg.  You need more time, and most likely more Effexor, to gauge if it's working for you.  Be patient, and keep in mind that if it doesn't work for you, something will.  You just need to keep looking.

Peace to you too, although that may require less street fighting.

Hi,

I took effexor for almost 4 years and it worked great for me but it did take
awhile before I started feeling better.  I also ended up at 300 mg to do the
trick but it did work.  It was just a slow process unfortunately.

best wishes,

I have been taking effexor for years now and it has been wonderful.  I am on a maintenance dose of 300mg and would not be alive without it.  Please make sure you are seeing a psychiatrist who will make sure the dosage is right for you as you say you have no side effects but are not feeling it.  Maybe you are just feeeling normal again or maybe you need alittle more I cannot advise you on this just make sure you are monitered so you can be on the right dosage.
I hope this will be only a short epsiode for you
warm wishes

Effexor worked well for a while but i had awful withdrawl from it and no matter how much you take i would look at wheening yourself off of it.( don't go cold turkey)  The withdrawl can make you think you can't handle going off of it.   It disrupted my sleep when i was on it that i started to need scripts to help me sleep and the effexor to get through the day. I would really look for something else first. I'm no doctor but if  you haven't tried the old standbys first(lexapro, prozac, Zoloft, or wellbutrin)  I would'nt do effexor unless you plan on staying on it forever.    I was on it for over two years and now have luck with lexapro!!
Hang in there.
