Hormonal Depression?

Hormonal Depression?

I had a partial hysterectomy and bladder lift about 6 weeks ago, I am 68 years old, and I felt good after the vaginal surgery(couldn't believe I actually had surgery I felt so good! . Now I am so tired, cry for no reason, and feel depressed.  I've been like this a couple weeks now.   How long will this depression last?  What can I do about it?

see your doc and talk  about your symptoms. surgery takes alot out of you and you will need to give yourself time to heal.I am assuming they left your ovaries in. Had you been through menopause already?Maybe hrt can help. talk to your doc.I hope you feel better soon. I had hysterctomy at 27 and I went through much the same. HRT took care of alot of it.I was bi polar anyway so AI would go from manic to depression at the drop of a hat.
Let me know what the doc says.

What is HRT?    I do have my ovaries and at 68 years old I am sure I went through menopause.. it was never an issue for me. LOL...  If this depression continues much longer I will call my doctor...  Thanks for the good wishes..

Hormone replacement therapy. estrogen might help some of your symptoms. but I dont know if your doc would give it to you since you have already been through menopause. go ahead and see your doc .you dont have to suffer with this depression. In the meantime try to take a brisk walk for at least 30 minutes. tis will raise your seritonin and help you feel better. alsp keep a journal and write down everything you are feeling. It helps to get it out of our heads. we ladies tend to stuff alot of emotions down. good luck to you.

I usually walk, but since surgery I haven't done much.. so thanks for reminding me to get back to doing some limited exercise like walking..  I am usually so active, but the past few weeks I've been a couch potato..  Thanks so much for your support..
