Hormones/Depression and Anxiety..

Hey everyone. So this is the story. Last summer, I went on Loestrin Birth Control Pills.I was on it for about three months, then stopped taking it. Since them, I've had bad anxiety/depression. This might sound crazy, but I was wondering if the hormones could have somehow permanently altered my hormones/moods? And if there's anything I can do to reverse it. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

They do sound related unless something else has been going on in your life that could be the cause. I do know many times birth control is prescribed to women, even girls to regulate their hormones. Your best answer will come from your dr who prescribed the birth control. He not only can answer your questions but may even suggest to go back on them to regulate your hormones. He can also test your hormone levels. I'm sorry I could not answer your direct questions but I hope my suggestions will at least help.

Hi,
I just came across this post and had to give some feedback. I am currently reading a WONDERFUL book that is helping me tremendously in understanding the role hormones can play in depression and anxiety. It is called "Screaming to be Heard, hormone connections woman suspect and doctors still ignore" by Dr. Elizabeth Vliet. Chapter 3 specifically deals with hormones and the brain.
I cannot recommend this book enough. Dr. Vliet covers it all in detail. I looked it up for you and she specifically talks about Loestrin on page 433. Just wanted to give you some input about how much the info in the book has helped me. Because of the book I am planning on trying new treatments for my treatment resistant depression.
Hang in there! I wish you the best!!!

I am not really sure about that but post this as a new question and someone else will be able to relate to it.

Crystal413,

I try to help in any way I can.  There is always something you can do or say to somebody and if I can think of it I will do it.  :)
