How Long befor you start having withdraw symtoms from effexor

Well i started to take Ativan cause to prevent panic attaks then I became dependent on it.So then I went to the doctor to take me off it and he put me on effexor xr I was on it for about 6 month I would say ,So then the doctor asked me are you ready to come off of it and i said well i think I am so I came off of it in a weeks period and really had no side effects then like 4 month later I started to have Anxiety and depression and almos had a panic attack could it be that I came off Effexor xr to soon or I was not ready to come off it I am really confused ...
