How can I get rid of my bad thoughts?

Hello,

I'm 13 years old(almost 14) and I have been having bad thoughts like running away, dying, and sometimes, I no this will probly sound stupid but if I don't use something for a while i get kind of sad that im not using it. i don't know why I have these bad thoughts. Also, I have never thought about actually dying or running away. If anyone has a way i could stop these bad thoughts please tell me. Thanks.

Well, we know that depression causes negative thougths or what I've also heard called as "stinking  thinking".
I've heard of different strokes to help different folks turn around those thoughts to positive thougths...
Here are some of the ideas I have  heard of people using....
try to find the opposite thought to the negative thought and don't allow the negative thought prevail,  do something creative, paint, draw, read, build something, refinish furnitre, arrange flowers, etc.
donate your time to make someone happy or to help someone one...bake cookies and take them to the  elderly centers and just spend a few minutes with them to let them know they are important, loved and not forgotten,
take  your dog to a dog park,
go for a walk, run or to the gym,
Help  people on this site that are having similar issues by letting them know you can relate and care about them.
meet an old friend for lunch
visit family
become involved in learning something new about a subject you've always had an interest in.
Paint your room a wild and bright color!
I guess if you have your mind busy thinking of something positive, it won't have time to let the negative thougths take up space.

But, yes, sometimes we need a little help to get to the point that we want to do something and have to force ourselves up and out of bed.  I agree, you do need to make your parents aware of what you are going thru and I'm sure they will help you or get you help to help pull you out of the  funk!  Best of luck!  Hey Jude

Yes...as MAMMO said, try telling your parents how you feel. Figure out a way to tell them in your own words, without scaring them. Maybe just sit down w/ them and have a casual ,relaxing conversation w/ them. As soon as possible---if possible.

Once you open up to your parents, then you can continue the conversation and see how they can help. A little at a time. They can give you tips, a little at a time. Easier for you to "chew on".

Also, do you have an older cousin or relative that you can also trust to tell things to?

look i'm having the same problem as well and worse than yours but i'm trying to get through it by thinking of a perfect place relaxing, like maybe at a beach or some place that you really enjoy. remember that you have control over your mind and that your not alone. i'm still struggling but i know i will be fine maybe just try to remember that.(=

Have you tried talking to your parents?  I know this can be hard, but your parents do love you and would want to know how badly you're feeling.  Having an occasional bad thought is okay, but not everyday, especially for a young person like yourself!  You should be enjoying life, and if you're not, you need to find out why.  Taking drugs, drinking or smoking pot is a very bad idea, and only make you feel better for a short period.  You will learn that this is how to cope with life, and it isn't the way. You may just be learning that life can be tough, but you have to be tougher!  Try talking to one of your parents, or at least to us about how you are feeling, and maybe we can do more to help.  Also, keeping a journal of your thoughts and feelings can be very helpful.

Unfortunatly bad thoughts are not easy to just wish away.
In fact some would say that having some bad thoughts is simply part of being human.

I an 40 years old and I figure I must have about 75 bad thoughts per day.

What are you sad about not using? Drugs?
