I NEED SOME HELP HERE

by LisaAnn678, Feb 27, 2008 10:38AM
Does anyone know whether Lamictal could cause Effexor or Zoloft to not work?  I have been on Lamictal and Effexor for several months with little relief from my depression and panic attacks.  My doc is switching me to Zoloft.  I have been on 3 antidepressants in the past and they have all worked but they were all SSRI's.  Effexor is a SNRI.  I started the Lamictal and Effexor at the same time so I dont know which one is not working or sabotoging the other.  I tried to wean off effexor and go bk to prozac (I had previosly had good results with) but ended up in the hospital with a terrible panic attack.  It seemed like the prozac wasnt working.  Could the lamictal be causing this or is it just that the SNRI doesnt work for me.  Did the lamictal sabotage the Prozac when I tried to switch or was the withdrawls from the effexor making me so panicky and depressed?  Long story short, I don't know what to do first.  I have to either A) go on Zoloft and wean from Effexor and then after about 2 weeks try to drop the lamictal or B) drop the lamictal and then start weaning from effexor and taking zoloft.  I don't think that the lamictal is working very well.  sorry so much info...I JUST NEED SOME HELP!!!  Lisa

Sorry to jump in here but I'm having trouble with SSRI's and was wondering what tricyclic worked the best for you. So far Prozac has lifted my depression however it does cause me to be hyper and agitated at times which I don't like at all.

Thanks,Karen
