I just want to give up cant sleep because of harassment

iI am 57. I don't work and have been more and more depressed. I also have Congestive heart failure and had heart attacks. I need rest a lot. Not really friends or family. I have been at my current residence for 7 years, and I feel trapped. The neighbor is harassing me with noise, when he knows I am asleep. he lives next door. you wouldnt believe what he does. the noise is incredible he makes. i am so depressed  because hes causing me to lose my apt only have one month to sfind another. he wont stop, cops and everything wont do anything. i have to leave my house every couple of days just to get some rest. no car. i have been thinking if its not better to be gone. the man is relentless. day and night. he scares me. cops want me to move even though i cant function without sleep. i dont know what top do, this morning he was behind neighbors wall and made a loud sound to scare me. my heart hurt and i was having palpatations. i take valium but nothing as well as ear plugs wont drown him out. i am scared because he gave me a heart attack in oct when i signed the new lease, which i can break, and i feel so trapped and helpless.

Everybody should have the right to a comfortable safe living situation where they don't feel scared or freaked out.  If local cops won't deal with neighbor go over their heads.  That's crap.  I'm sorry for what u are going through.  The best solution for your health may b to move but u shouldnt be bullied out.  That's BS.

I know what you mean I have the same kind of neighbor. I won't go out of my house if I know he is there. His son does the same thing by ringing our doorbell and running away. Spraying paint on my garage door. I have called the cops a few times. They are so indifferent and lazy bunch of people. But they each did tell me to document everything and carry something that records when you have an encounter with him. So I have a mini recorder that my daughter owns and I keep it in my car at all times. I saved all the nasty notes he leaves in my mailbox. The cops just said don't reply to his notes, just keep everything and document.
I can't believe the police system and the law in this country. So I kind of know what you are going through. I get so nervous when my daughter tells me "Ma there is a note on our door from him." I go into total freakout mode and get so nervous and angry and depressed. But there is nothing you can do but date the note and put it in the ziplock bag with the other notes.
Hope to God that your situation gets better and I hope that God punishes him for what he is doing to you. No one deserves this kind of treatment and to live this way.

Did you mean in your first post that your lease is up in a month?
I don't understand how people can be so uncaring either. My sister went through the same thing with her upstairs neighbors. She lives alone and has RA. The people would be up at all hours of the night making so much noise. My sister finally had to move. I hope you can figure out another living situation soon.

I cant believe this depression i am going through. now hes got the neighbor in thebn next apt making all kinds of sounds too, right next to the plasterboard wall. this guy who is the main harasser drinks and owns two houses on the block. the cops are like well, what can we do, we dod not see him. his wofe goes along with him. i called the sops yes. what else can i do? i pray for a miracle. the guy upstairs from me, chris hears kevin the main harasser but wont tell the cops. the people who hear dont want to get involved. tghe rich people whio get away wit well, you know. i am so depressed. and i know the ring the doobell and run away bit. my last guy i liked did that and used to put garbage all over my lawn. i should be so lucky now. this kevin is at it all night, because he doeasnot likte apt renters.because hes BETTER THAB ME. I HOPE I DONT END UP IN A NURSING HOME BUT IT MAY BE THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE. THIS KEVIN EVEN GOES DOWN IN THE CELLER AND KNOWS ON MY FOOR FROM THERE. HE GETS THERE FROM THE NEIGHBOR TO ME, , HIS APT. THE NEIGHBOR IS GAY AND NOT TO IMPUNE GAY PEOPLE BUT HE ACTS LIKE KEVIN IS HIS  DADDY. BE GLAD FOR WHAT YOU HAVE BECAUSE IT CAN GET WORSE-OR IT CAN GET BETTER. THANK YOU ALL BUT I KNOW THE RENTAL  MANAGER IS IN ON IT TOO. THIS KEVIN IS SO ANAL HE CANT STAND AN OLD CAR BEING PARKED BY HIS HOUSE. HE MUST HAVE INHERITED MONEY. HIS WIFE HAS MS SO SHE CANT BE FUN, SHES MISEREABLE AND DISLIKE MW TOO. I PRAY, BUT IF A PERSO KNOWS SOMEONE HAS as medical condition made worse from stree-why would they be sp mean? he stands by my side window and makes all kinds of sounds all hours of the night.

You definitely need to address this with your landlord!  I'm sure others are bothered by this man's behavior.  You've been a long time tenant with no complaints, have a serious talk with your landlord and go from there.  Wishing you all the best with this adult bully!

I'm so sorry to hear both of your stories. I do not understand how some people can be inconsiderate of others, especially people with medical problems.
To the first poster. Have you asked your landlord if you can move to a different apartment?

You and I are in the same boat. I am 50y/o with major depression and anxiety and a single mom. I live right next door to a single man about the same age who is always on my property leaving me nasty notes. I have called the police and all they said was to carry a tape recorder with me at all times and keep all written notes he leaves in my mailbox. His teenage son follows suit by ringing my doorbell and running, which aggravates my daughter so much. I have called the police a few times but of course they are lazy as all heck.
They asked me rudely "Lady what do you want us to do?" I told them that I just want him off my property, simple as that. He revs his car engine which makes my daughter scream but I try to ignore it because I know he does it to annoy us. He stares at me whenever I am outside gardening or getting the mail and the cops say that so long as he is on his property he is not breaking the law. What a law. So my daughter and I don't leave the house until he is gone. What a way to live.
Anyway, I can't offer any words of wisdom but to only let you know that you are not alone in these neighbor situations.
