I've been having brain zaps lately

by notable_resident, Mar 18, 2009 02:08AM
I had been taking 450 mg of Wellbutrin XL, but a week ago I went down to 150 mg.  Ever since then I've been having brain zaps- they're the worst at night.  My doctor's office didn't have any advice.  :(   When will it stop???

That is a HUGE drop in dose, I'm not sure why the drop was done so suddenly, that's a 1/3 of what you were taking. With that drop you're going to have the brain zaps and god awful withdrawals. If it's really bad, talk to your doctor, and maybe up your dose for a bit then slowly wean down.  How long have you been on 450?  I would expect if you stay at that lower dose, maybe a couple of weeks of the zaps, but they will ease up.
