Long term side effects of fluoxetine

by wilbury, Feb 03, 2008 02:34PM
Hello
Does anyone know the side effects of long term use of fluoxetine?  Is there any time limit that you should be on this drug or if your symptoms dictate is a long term/permanent use of drug acceptable?
Many thanks

I agree with Hensley, you have to do what it takes to keep you balanced and able to function..... so if prozac is helping you feel stable and in control of your life, please try not to worry about the potential outcome because they are just that, 'potential', and quite frankly these medicines are so new that it will as she said, be anouther 20 years before we know what to even watch for if anything.

Probably the best and safest way to ensure your future good physical health and over all bodily function is to have a yearly check up with blood work to check organ function. So long as your health is good and your state of mind stable.... I wouldnt worry. There are alot worse things you could be putting into your body than SSRI's , particularly if they provide the desired effect of removing depression.

*Blessings and peace to you both*
