I've been on zoloft for 10 years before that I was on prothiaden for 5 years.I take 200mg a day we have tried lowering the dose but my anxiety, depression and panic attacks are too intense without medication,I realize I need these meds to lead a funtional life so why would I stop taking them.A diabetic wouldn't stop their meds neither would heart patients,I have found something that helps me if I have to take it for the rest of my life then so be it,It's got to be better than the alternatives, suicide is permanent.Zoloft saved my life.

I justed started on zoloft about 3 months ago and have been slowly increased to 150mg. I've been on different ssri over the last 10 yrs and they have help immensly especially raising a family and working full time. Please let me know about what you find out about long term use. I don't think the very small dose you are on is very dangerous at all. I do know there are children on zoloft who have taken to adulthood. It's a lifesaver for them.

I completely agree!! SSRI discontinual syndrome (AKA withdrawals) is HELL!! I have been on antidepressants 10 years and I hated it!  I have been on Paxil (1 year or less) Zoloft ( 5 years, then Prozac for 4 years. I stopped taking Prozac in  March due to it's overstimulating effects.. Now I am having problems with diarrhea, brain fog, anxiety and generally feeling like crap. My hormones are all messed up too. I am going to be getting my thyroid looked at because I may have thyroid issues as well.. SSRI's are a NIGHTMARE!!

I have been taking it for seven years now, started off at 200mg then went to 100mg daily. for the last month ive been on 50mg then 25mg then i stopped, the side effects are F----ing intense and just a nightmare, ive tried to give up before on several occasions but had to get back on it because i couldnt go about my daily routines such as work, im not working at the moment but start a new job next week, looks like ill be back on the zoloft again!! Ive read numerous forums on this and everyone experiences the same thing. Ive spoken to numerous GPs about it and they seem suprised, what the f--- is going on, i cant even concentrate on this anymore.
