Medical advice and general support

So I've been posting under Anxiety, but my psych has diagnosed me with severe depression which I'm not surprised. I'm 21 and I can say I've been depressed for most of my life, im constantly crying over things in my past because of violence and other things I experienced. I feel like i want to let go of my past and start a new future but my mind keeps torturing things. It makes me remember specific events and I cant get them out of my head. Anyways I was on Effexor 187mg for the past 3 months with NO HELP..It was around the time I started school so I've been feeling even more depressed over these last 4 months. My psych just keeps upping my doses and I keep telling her nothings happeneing. So finally she has me starting on Welburtin now with clonozepam 2 times a day. She said shes going to slow taper me off the Effexor. Well unfortunetly I ran out of effexor and since she's an emerg doctor I couldn't get a hold of her for the past week, so I've basically cut effexor cold turkey...but I dont think I had any side effects other then a mild headache.

Now I've been taking Clonazepam .5mg twice a day PLUS Welburtin 150mg for now once a day.

My questions for anything so kind enough to help a very confused girl:

1. Is the effexor out of my system now since I've been off it for a week? My worst fear is that I'll start having withdrawal symptons next week or something. Everything Ive read says effexor has horrible withdrawl (withdrawal) and I didn't feel a thing. (The anxiety side of me feels like they gave me a placebo)

2. My psch said to ween off effexor while taking welburtin and clonazepam. But the pharmasist said I don't need to take clonazepam everyday, its just as needed. I'm wondering is it beneficial to take welburtin and clonazepam together daily?

3. When will the Welburtin kick in? I have hit an all time low after trying cipralex 3 months, Effexor 4 months with no result. I've dropped all exams at school and I need to be well before I can take them..

Thank you so much!

Don't be discouraged. Depression is very tricky to treat. Everyone reacts to the meds differently. It usually takes several tries to find the right drug or combination of drugs. You just gotta keep trying until you find what works well for you. Me personally, I got no help from effexor, and I am fairly certain it made me feel much worse. I was on it for roughly 4 months and quit cold turkey with minimal side effects (headache, dry mouth) Sounds like you could benefit from some therapy along with your medications. Wellbrutin does take a lil bit to kick in as do most antidepressants. The Clonazepam is a benzo though, and it will act quickly. As far as taking it daily, the medication guide says it should be taken regularly around the same time a day. Follow your doctors instructions. If you need help finding a regular doctor that isn't an ER, or a counseler google centerstone they will help you find one in your area, and they are income based if you don't have insurance.
