Memory Loss

Hallo
I am an Indian female approaching 40 yrs.
Since last one year I have started forgetting things, every small thing, regular things, e.g. if I want to pick u p something from a room and then after entering the room I do not often remember why I am there. I am forgetting many small things all the time. Problem is as I am from a conservative family my parents do not allow me to consult a doctor in this regard as this is too shameful for them. But this forgetfulness is too much stressful for me and affecting my work and peace of mind. Even my parents are complaining and blaming me all the time for this. Could this be depression?

I have a very demanding and insecure job in NGO sector, which involves on an average 15 days travel per month in different countries. I have a difficult life, with broken marriage and parents with extreme fragile health. I try my best to take care of them and I live with them. I do not have brother/sisters and also virtually no relative or friend to interact with on regular basis and who can help me out.
I had been to a local doctor for my joint pains (I am taking pain killers for years) and indirectly talked about forgetfulness. He prescribed among others (pain killers etc.) Amixide. After taking this drug for two weeks, I do not see any difference. I am advised to do some exercise but my parents don’t allow me to go to a gym. I can’t upset them as they are very ill.
Kindly suggest what to do? My thyroid is normal and I have no other major disease so far (apart from joint pain and sleeping disorder).
Please help, your advice can help me to cope with this very difficult situation.
Many thanks in advance

Thanks a lot, in fact I love fish and eat fish regularly. I will also try the vitamins you have suggested. I am still taking Amixide, hope to get some relief. At least my sleeping disorder is slightly better now.

Hi there, I sympathise with your situation, you have a lot of responsibility at the moment, and remembering things is bound to be difficult when you have so much to remember!

The AMIXIDE will take approximately 4 weeks for you to feel better, it is a gradual process and the doctor should have explained this..it is good for sleep problems too but I still think it will take time.

Like Nikodicreta said you could look into supplements. Omega 3 fish oils are excellent for the brain, they help with concentration, memory and mood. So if you enjoy oily fish try to eat it 3 times a week. If not you can buy supplements but they can be expensive.
B6 and B12 vitamins are beneficial to women, they also help us deal with stress and keep our hormones balanced which again helps moods.

I hope this helps a bit!

Hi ujjaini723.
Please consider to invest time and energy into stress reduction.
It is NOT the obstacles and challenges in life, it is how you deal with them.
Your medications are only symptom relief agents.
There's no curative action. They may be contributors to your memory issues.
Energy psychotherapy would be advisable at this time of your life. It is a very efficient form of therapy -unlike traditional therapy- and it could be done on skype also( if your schedule is not very flexible.)
The past trauma from your broken marriage, the added pressures from
your aging parents with their health issues, and your stress from your job that takes you away 2 weeks every month, is an emotional challenge and probably responsible for your
memory deficiencies.
On the physiological level, look into extra virgin coconut oil for Brain and Neurological
health. The health benefits of evco are very extensive!
Please go to the coconut research center website for details.
Very helpful also would be Pranayama Anulom Vilom breathing.

So you may have to make this decision, going against your parents will and belief system, to ensure that you will be able to continue looking after them.
Perhaps a wise person of influence, from your community can talk to them.
Please post again.
Blessings,
Nikodicreta
