Mental health facility

by Christy H, Apr 29, 2007 12:00AM
Today, my friend who by the way was decreasing on Efexor, and not doing very well deceasing, had a nervous break down for lack of a better word and we (her husband and I) ended up having to take her to a mental health hospital. During the intake she let us know that she has had thoughts of suicide. She said that sometimes she feels like crashing her car into a wall. Now this is a voluntary mental health facility and the intake nurse said that the average stay is 4-7 days. Has anyone been in a place like this and what should i expect the treatment to be and how can I best help her through this and get her back on her feet.
Thanks for your help,
Christy
