Nefadadone hydrochloride/dutonin/serozone for depression. Anyone still take it?

I was on it years ago, the only antidepressant that gave me no weight gain and minimal side effects.

I was taken off them suddenly and they were discontinued in this country.

Doc never told me why or anything, i've since discovered it was because people were dying of liver failure or damage and the company no longer makes it but that there is still a generic available.

Was wondering if anyone still takes it with no problems.

I was on it a good few years, then put on citalopram with subsequent major weight gain. Then trazodone which gave me palpatations as did escitalopram and had problems with others too, and prozac gave me weight gain too.

Been on antidepressants 16 years or more, trying herbal antidepressants but losing my battle as my depression extremely bad just now and my fast pulse and palpatations are returning.

Was wondering if, i know it sounds very silly but i was wondering if the doc would let me go back on it if all else fails, if i sign a disclaimer and get regular check ups from the doctor.

Thanks

hi thanks, my doc has given me effexor xl incase i decide to go back on the meds, but seems it has weight gain and extreme withdrawal problems.

I asked my doc for wellbutrin, think she said we don't do it in this country for depression for some reason. (Scotland).

Thanks will look into the zoloft .

Was on Citalopram for years after dutonin but it gave me weight gain and stopped working aft 14 years.

Trazadone and escitalopram gave me palpatations, prozac weight gain too.

If all else fails can ask to go back on the Citalopram again.

Thanks

Correction: ''which will basically in a SNDRI'' should be read as ''which will basically result like a SNDRI''.

No, Nefazodone is a bad idea it has been removed for a reason.

I might have a solution for you after examining the pharmacology of Nefazodone. To get about the same result you had with Nefazodone with no weight gain I would recommend sertraline (Zoloft) combined with Wellbutrin XL. To get a significant antagonizing effect to your 5-HT2 receptors you would need mirtazapine but it is related with weight gain so I would try the Zoloft with Wellbutrin XL which will basically in a SNDRI like Nefazodone and see how it goes.

Please note that I am not a psychiatrist and you should consult your doctor or a psychiatrist before getting on those medications. Never order online without prescriptions.
