Never enough sleep.

Never enough sleep.

Hi, I am a nineteen year old male and I have had a lot of problems with Fatigue. I was diagnosed with "Clinical Depression" a few years ago and started taking Prozac for it. I stopped taking the medication a few months ago (I know it was a bad idea) to see how I would deal with things and I have not suffered a major relapse (suicidal thoughts) to date. The real problem is the constant tiredness. I was always tired before I was diagnosed and they told me it was an effect of the depression but after taking Prozac I was still tired all the time and even now after not being on it.

I am often up until late in the night because I do not feel tired the later it gets. At about 5-6 in the morning I finally feel tired enough to sleep, just when the sun is rising. I have tried sleeping pills and they work (some better then others) but I don't want to become addicted to them. I have tried no caffeine, no TV or computer, reading a book, exercising and then cooling off, taking a walk, counting sheep, taking a shower, lying in bed with my eyes closed, even warm milk! Everything I could think of failed to get me to sleep at a decent time. The longest I have slept was 18 hours and only because I was woken up. I feel tired no matter the amount of sleep I get.

I really hate feeling tired and exhausted all the time and it is effecting my performance at my job. Should I go back onto a different medication or am I missing something?

It sounds like you have made your mind up more than you are asking a question but i suggest getting back on medicine. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it wont and I think you know that if you got on medicine in the first place. I know it may seem really nice not to have to be on pills. Man that would be so nice. But is risking your life really worth that???

Now about the sleeping. Ha. I couldn't tell you. I have really really bad insomnia. Nothing helps me either. Not even the pills. So I accept it. If sleeping pills work for you that is great. I get a ton of criticism from my family as well as other people bc of my sleep patterns. If you can live a normally with pills I say take them.

I take Lithium for my Bipolar
I take Seroquel for my insomnia

Hope this helps. I understand what your going through and I wish you luck!
