Nortriptyline Question

I recently started taking this medication for depression and pain. Two days ago I experienced heart palpitations that lasted about 5 minutes or so. I read that this medication can have negative cardiac side effects. Sometimes even deadly. Am I worrying for nothing?

No  you are not woring for nothing,   i would at least ask the Dr. about it. Was this prescrbe dby  yor family Dr, or  a mental health DR. ny thing that affects or heart  is not to be taken lightely. my wife has same problem with a medication it helper her depression  but caused her major side effects. Heart Palpatations? That is a bit scary. If that is being caused by the Nortriptilyne then you should call your doctor ASAP. I have never read of this med causing heart problems, but anything is possible.

I think this medication can have that side effect.  Peoples bodies react differently to medications.  If it seems to be caused by the medication, then certainly address it.  Any good doctor will understand the risk vs benefit and help you make a good decision.  There are so many options these days that it makes little sense to suffer on a medication.  This certainly can have a spiral effect in you're anxious about the possible effects which may just exacerbate things.

The one and only Major side effect I get from this Nortriptilyne is a constant extreem internal heat wave.

This drug has cranked up my internal Thermostat to Ultra red hod. I really hate that about it. I over heat at even the slightest increase in temperature. I actually sweat in 50 degree weather just walking the Dog!

I like this drug because it works so well, but with Summer comming and living in the South, I may have to stop taking it. They should give this stuff to people that go on Arctic Expeditions. They would only need a light Jacket to survive!
