Panic attacks while quitting smoking

I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety in the past, although I am not taking any medications currently. Recently someone I know was diagnosed with lung cancer and ive decided to quit a VERY heavy smoking habit. Most days I would have 25-30 cigarettes. Well, today I've had maybe 5 and about 2 hours ago I THINK I had a full blown panic attack. I got weak, sweaty, hot, had to use the bathroom (soory but I did!) and Ive been having some heart palpitations and chest pain.. its crazy how I can not get this anxiety under control. Anyway, I am looking to see if anyone out there has ever experienced this same thing (FULL BLOWN panic) when quitting smoking.

I have had panic attacks before, not from quitting smoking but if you want something to help with the anxiety you should try Valerian Root, available in most chemists or health food shops.

Well yeahh ive had somethin like that i think its bcuz of the nicotien with draw being so darastic your starting to have panic attacs like you know how you gett all emotional when you need a cigg really bad yeahh well, thats whats making you have these panic attacs or it could be some thing else. Just remember that panic attacs can strike at any waking moment just remember that they dont last forever i had them every night around the same time for about a year straight but if its not a regular thing for you they shouldnt happen that often

I quit smoking 4 days ago (12-24-2010) and seem to have had a small panic attack. Mostly I had a rapid heart beat and felt like something is wrong. I was tried to find out if you can have a panic attack just from quitting, also. Not much luck on the internet.
