Paxil and Wellbutrin

I took Paxil for years and because of the sexual side affects I Switched to Wellbutrin XL 300 mg last year.  Recently my depression has started to come back and today my doctor added the Paxil 40 mg again and said this is a common pair because neither work long ter alone.  Has anyone used this combination?

I have heard this is a common combination as well as is Wellbutrin with other medication. Right now I am tapering off Lexapro and starting Wellbutrin but the thing is I hesitate to take any SSRI (Wellbutrin is not an SSRI) because of the weight gain they cause. Paxil seems to have very bad sexual side effects and is the worst, in my opinion, for weight gain.

My husband has been taking Paxil since March and has gained a lot of weight. He was taking 40 mg and had severe sexual side effects. His dose was reduced to 20 mg and that seemed to do the trick for the sexual side effects but not the weight gain, which is still a problem. His appetite has gotten out of control too, as was mine when I used to take Paxil.

I finally went off Paxil several years ago and lost all the weight and my husband is going to try something else too when he sees the doctor this week.
