Paxil with Wellbuterin

by phil'swife, May 20, 2007 12:00AM
My husband has had depression, untresated for at least 15+ years. When he became suicidal and could barely work, he finally agreed to going to a dr. Since starting meds, he never has been to a totally stable level. He will be good for 6-8months and relapse again. But since he has been on both PAXIL(20mg) and WELLBUTERIN(150) for at least two years he has been his best. What happens now is his "depression" comes and goes very quickly. He can real jubulent one day and crying the next. I have also seen very scarey changes in his functioning level and think, it he starting some early thing like alzehimer's or are the meds doing it? He used to have great sense of direction, now hardly none. He forgets what we discussed from morning to night, way to much to explain. Has anyone taken these meds together and has anyone seen this quick mood swing with meds or extreme drop in mental function?

To: husband's depression
I was married to a man who was depressed most of his life. If I were you I would take him to the doctor that gave him the medications. It doesn't sound as  though they are working.  It is really hard living with someone who is depressed and it is hard being the one who is depressed.
Good luck and let us know.
