Paxil

Paxil

I've been taking paxils for years, and had to stop because I no longer have insurance.  I retired in 2010 and when my insurance ran out I could not afford to keep it.  Therefore my doctor would not issue me and more prescriptions for paxils.  I was taking 40 mg.

Now I am experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mood swings and so on.

Is there anything that I can take to help me that replaces paxils and make me feel better.

There are so many different medications out there, but unfortunately they will cost around the same amount as Paxil.
You could check with local pharmacies to see if they offer generic brands, and what they will cost. Perhaps one of the generic ones will be something that you can afford.

I'm not sure what you guys have down in the
States, but here we have a programs called AISH, Aid for Daily living, etc. These groups were set up for people that need help and can't afford it.
In Canada we also have a subsidy program that is connected to social services ( used to be called welfare ). This subsidy will not offer you a monthly check, but they will lend a hand by offering dental, glasses, medications to those that cannot afford them.
Of course, like anything else you have to qualify for it.

There are certain herbal remedies available, but you would need to speak with your doctor/pharmacist or an herbalist to find out which ones may or may not work for you.
Try a health food store...but bring a list of known allergies with you...and a list of any other medications you may be taking.
Relaxation techniques work well for some people. These include learning to breath properly, yoga, etc.

Remember that we're here to help...even if it's just by hearing you out.
If you need to rant, do it.
Sorry that you are going through all of this...I know it's rough, and so unfair.
We'll try to find you some peace together.

Paxil now comes in generic form. It costs about $4.00 a month. Ask your Dr about putting you on generic.

Hi and thank you for your comments.  I have been St.Johns Warts for about three weeks, and have been feeling really gassy and a lot of pain in my lower abdomen.  I stopped taking them and feel better.  Any advice about St.Johns Warts.

I do not have a doctor anymore because I don't have any insurance.  I will turn 65 in December of this year when I can apply for Medicare.  Until then I'm kind of stuck.  Can you suggest anything.

Thank you so much

Is there any way you can get back in to see your old Dr? Tell him that Paxil does come in generic. I'm really surprised he did'nt suggest this when he knew your insurance was no longer in effect. Actually, you can get a 3 month script for $10 at some pharmacies. Cheaper than $4 a month.

Your very welcome. If you call your Drs office let them know that you are an uninsured patient. Sometimes they will give you a discount on your visit.
