Update. Not doing that good. My anxiety came back. I was feeling new anxiety symptoms (physical ones: leg pains, some twitching) so there I was off again in the viscous cycle. I hope will lessen when the Remeron kicks in. Been almost 2 weeks now, but really felt great last week. Maybe it was the placebo effect. I did have to reduce my Celexa from 40mg (only on that dose for a week) down to 20 mg.
Given that Celexa and Lexapro share the same basic structure it's unlikely Lexapro is any "stronger" than Celexa. Some meds work for some people, some don't. It's all trial and error, not really so much a question of "strength." And talk to you psychiatrist about the snris that have been suggested for you; they're often not used for people who suffer from strong anxiety, though that doesn't mean they might not work for you, because they are stimulating. Might be what you need, might not be. None of us can tell you that, only trial and error will. Good luck.
Update. I got Remeron added to my Celexa (later will remove Celexa) and feel just like my old self again. I can't believe it! I thought I would never come out of that state of mind. No more Klonopin too.
Would personally try Prozac, since it's one of the easier meds to get off of and be on. But nobody which will work best for you. snris can be difficult, but they do work best for some people. I'd give them a wait at this point, though. Just my opinion. (and stay away from Paxil til last, too. do some homework on which meds people tolerate the best and start with those).
For the energy issue I would suggest you talk to your doctor about trying an SNRI like Effexor or Cymbalta. Those meds affect your norepinephrine, also know as noradrenaline, you can know understand what I'm referring to an energy boost.
From my own experience I know Cymbalta (dulexetine) isn't that much sereternergic so I would expect more energy and a better overall well being from this med but like I always say: everyone is different and one size doesn't fit all when talking about drugs.
I don't suggest adding an amphetamine to the regiment to boost you energy level but only a switch to an SNRI could do the job.
Finding the good med is something a lot of trial error. So i wish you good luck and let know your doctor about the possibility of trying an SNRI. Doctors are not pharmacist so you could explain him why you want to try it.
Best of luck,
M4
