Please help with this one.

I have been on lexapro for almost 10 years and it has worked great at 10 mg dose. No, problems at all. About a year ago I started having ibs so I started taking loperamide immodiun,ad. I was at one time, taking up to 40,per day. I read how addicting they can be so,i have tapered down to 20 a day. Not a big problem there. Everything was fine, but the last 3 weeks i started drinking a lot of energy drinks. It's been a week since I have not been on them. About 3 or 4 days ago, I started having anxiety and depression, and it has gotten worse. Went to my doc, who thought I was just getting worse didn't say anything about the drinks. Also prescribed trazadone, which i, have done 1 night. Before i went in to see him i felt like I was having out of body experience and he didn't say much to,it. He is a great doc. I guess I just want to know has anyone had problems like this with energy drinks. Also I would drink a protein drink afterward I worked out. I am,driving my wife crazy and cry a lot and feel like I am not here sometimes. Someone please help...

I don't think they messed up your brain chemistry -- the link between anxiety and brain chemistry is pretty much unknown at this point.  Because you're an anxiety sufferer you probably imprint anxiety more than others would, so even when you stopped the drinks you can still be thinking about the anxiety.  I think it will pass in time.  I'd look into meditation if you don't do it already -- it can produce energy as well and relax your system at the same time.

I quit the energy drinks 8 days ago. I still only sleep about 5 hours and toss and turn all night after that. I am,just wondering if the energy drinks messed up my chemistry some how and how long does it take to get it back.

Before starting the new drug, I'd stop the energy drinks -- don't know which ones you're taking, but they're probably the reason for your increased anxiety.  I'd also be careful about protein drinks if you have IBS, the ingredients in many of them can be hard to digest and make it worse.  I don't know if the immodium is also adversely affecting you, but when new things arise and situation is the same mentally, look at what's new, and you have a new med and are using drinks that aren't healthy, I assume you're doing it because of your exercise desires, not for health reasons.
