Post attempted suicide

Three months ago, I attempted to take my life by injecting my arm with insecticide. Suffice to say, I underwent surgery and survived. My psychiatrist has had me taking 10mg of lexapro and 5mg of abilify. I've been trying to observe my thoughts and behaviour, and it seems like the medication isn't working. I'm still heavily clouded with depression and my need for suicide is still present. Should I stop taking the medication?

suicide is too much pain and you cant cope. find the pain, deal with it, and the suicide urges leave. it could be a bad relationship, fear of something, or actual physical pain. deal with that pain. If it is lack of real people to identify with go to a support group that is much like you. Finding people is really important. Humans arent solitary. We need eachother. We just live in a strange world. Find your pain and deal with it, and find friends. Really, and if a friend makes you sad, kick em to the curb and find a better one. You should enjoy life. Anyone who makes you feel bad, you need to get away from them. You don't even owe them words.

I am starting to take Ablilify as well so appreciate your comment. I suggest an older bi-polar med if your insurance will pay for it,Trilafon. I loved it,but it costs $40 per month and I don't have any income. It worked so great! Check into it and see what you can find out. I didn't see much results the last time I took Abilify, hoping things will be different this time around.

medicine act but it still depend on the psycology of a person. if the person want the drug to act then only it will act and if they feel that it will not act then it will really never act.
just for eg... every doctor in the world will prescribe the same medicine for pain relief like i prescribe as being a future doctor InshALLAH for eg. take paracetamol;  how come that the same drug act well when you trust a doctor and does not act well if you dont
you want to know a thing depression is not because you are having it but it's because you want that in your life so it is there... Things only get worst when you try to make them worst by not facing them..... plz start beliving in your self then only you can over come it.... let your self know how important your life is to other who just live to see your smile..... and if you still feel like commiting suicide and all then only ALLAH Almight can help you...... may ALLAH bless you peace in you heart.....

Thanks for the kind words.

As for the medication, I'll have to talk about it with my doctor I guess... Try to see the best option for me and my condition. My medication has been really messing with my physiological state. My eyes are blurry, my hypersomnia has gotten worst, etc. I just feel that medication is not the answer. But then again, I feel like nothing will ever get me out of this hole I'm in.

No, don't just stop your medication, you need to wean off slowly under the guidance of your doctor.  After 6-8 weeks your doctor usually wnats to see you to see how the meds are working, and it appears that your's are not.  So, call your doctor and let him know this, so he can increase your dosage or change meds completely.  There is no need for you to feel this way, there is so much help for you.  Sometimes it is trial and error with these types of medications as to what will work best for you. so work closely with your doctor.  Suicide is never the answer and may take you to an even worse place. Your life matters and YOU matter, keep fighting for it.  Take care.

I think you need to call your psychiatrist right away and let him know the meds are not working. I'm not a doctor, but 10mg of Lexapro doesn't seem like much for severe depression and Abilify is antipsychotic. Abilify can make you agitated, it's not an antidepressant. Hang in there - things will get better with the right meds.

Hi, it takes awhile for the meds to work, if they don't ask ur doc about different ones.  Keep safe.

Depression is not a reason to commit suicide even i am suffering form severe depression. But suicide is not the answer to a problem i know how a person feel while going through depression the best way is to overcome, start beliving in ur self just let u feel how much lucky you are compare to others who wish to have a life like your's, you know suicide is the sign of cowardness, it say that u dont want to solve the problem, it's not that u cant, you can belive me and 1st learn to belive your self
