Prozac & Trazadone

Prozac & Trazadone

I've Been Secretly Dealing with depression/anxiety for the past 2-3 years. I'm only 15, but it's been a battle.

Yesterday my doctor subscribed 20 mg of Prozac in the morning and 50 mg of the trazadone for sleeping..

i've had alot of side effects from the sleeping pills...like being really anxious, scared, and it put me in a heavyheavy sleep, but i would wake up fewer times during the night(4-5) usually it's more like (8-10) but the dreams i would have were so strange...and i have about 3 of them.

I woke up feeling mentally and physically exhausted and in alot of pain, plus i was still really zonked out and i felt paralyzed...it went away after hours..

I took the prozac at 10

and the only problems i really have with it so far, is i have bad dry mouth, and some stomach aches, but that could still be from the anxiety...

i know it's only the first real day, but can anyone give me some guidance on how to ride this out for a few weeks....the doctor said that they really didn't start producing results until a few weeks passed..

my mother is also bipolar, but so far it's only sever depression and anxiety...but my mom took prozac for around 5-7 years and was great..and she also takes the trazadone just a higher amount...

i'm not the suicidal type or even hurting myself, but i am worried that getting more depressed in these few weeks could potentially be harmful to me.

i also woke up a bit hostile this morning, probably because i felt like someone ran over me..lmao.

but i'm trying to get better, and hopefully i can be taken off the sleeping pills once i start feeling better..

just help me understand the medication.

(sorry it is so long..)

thanks!

actually they gave me the 100 mg of the trazodone because it was all they could give me for the first few weeks...i haven't had my order filled yet..so i have to cut them down to half..

i cut it short tonigh...so maybe the less will do better..

i just feel like a log in the morning...dead log.

and things have started to simmer down a bit today, not soo many side effects.

hey,

ok i started trazodone about a week ago.  if a whole 50mg pill makes you feel crappy, try taking a half (they should be very easy to break in half).  my psychiatrist said you just have to mess around with the dosage and see what works.  i was completely zonked out when i took a 50mg.  i loved the sleep after so many sleepless nights, but waking up in the morning was nearly impossible.

some of what you're feeling is probably from the prozac too.  i have never taken prozac, but i've been on 3 different antidepressants.  the first two drove me even more crazy than i already was feeling.  i started celexa at the same time i did the trazodone and it seems ok so far (at least better than the 2 previous meds).  i'm still depressed but it takes some time.  so prozac may not be the right medicine for you, but you'll only know if you take it consistently for a few weeks.

you just have to push your way through it...i know it's really hard.  but of course post here anytime you need to vent.

try taking that lower dose of trazodone.  it might help!

glad you're feeling a bit better and hope things continue to get better too.

i can't imagine taking 50-100mg a night.  it's pretty strong stuff.

let me know how the lower dose goes...i was wondering if anyone else had these side effects w/ traz.

night!

the smaller amount of trazodone didn't put me to sleep at all...took forever..

and i find that in the morning i am highly sensitive to sounds...so the alarm immediately wakes me up, but i get so anxious and scared..crazy really..mmm

the prozac makes me yawn alot..and makes me do that 'i've sat on the couch for five hours back stretch' so my back feels so...exaushted really..

and i was really depressed all day yesterday...but the weather is also making me do strange things..like the opposite of spring fever.

that makes me feel great!!

anyway, hope tonight's sleep is better....

the doctor i see, well i can only see him on mondays and during a certain aloted time...it's a hastle.

i find it harder to get back to sleep in the morning when i am woken up by phones as well...

but today has been alright.

trazadone drunkenness...

that's my best explanation.

i've cut my dose down to 1/4 of a pill and seem to sleep well w/out all the crazy side effects (nightmares, hung-over)

how's it going squirrel??

pretty good..

i've been having mood swings pretty bad lately..

but i never have nightmares or anything, pleasant dreams..

i usually always remember them in the morning and they are entertaining..

still HIGHLY sensitive to sound right before i'm knocked out...

but things are going pretty nicely.

glad to see you are sleeping better!
