Prozac

I got a new dr and he says i am depressed and put me on 20 mg of Prozac...as some of u know i have had problems for some time..well today is my 4th day on the prozac and he also had me stop my ativan and put me on a high dose of xanx 6 mgs....but im not taking that much he ssiad i could play around with the xanx dose,,,but i feel kinda more depressed today and im so drowsy and dizzy and my walking is bad kinda feel like im in slow motion and just cant walk good cause of the dizziness.will this pass i was on prozac in may 09 thru sept 09 and dont remember feeing this way.....my pill of prozac are blue capsules this time and last year they were green and yellow i think....i so want to be better but this is terriblle..im doing things i havent done in a while but now im afraid to drive as im dizzier than ever....any one ever have something like this before....does these meds take a while to work?

Hello. How much ativan were you on? 6mg of xanax is a high dose, and it can cause the symptoms you described. Were you on any other antidepressants previously? What is your specific diagnosis? Please advise, GM

i was on about 3 mg of ativan sometimes 2 1/2mg but imnot taking the 6 mgs ofxanx imonly taking 3 mgs of it

Hello. Most antidepressants take time to reach their full effectiveness. Xanax, however, has an immediate effect, and can quickly result in increasing tolerances. It is also a powerful sedative, which could account for some of your symptoms. Have you asked your doctor about your concerns? Best wishes, GM
