REM Sleeping Disorder and Depression Meds

I have recently been diagnosed with a REM Sleeping Disorder.  I scream, kick, growl like a tiger (seriously!) try to get out of bed, sit up, talk incessently in my sleep and so far the only conclusion is that it is related to depression medication.  I'm currently taking 150MG of Effexor XR and 60 mg of Cymbalta.  I have been given .5 MG of Clonazepam (Klonopin)to help the problem.  It helps somewhat for about 5 hours and then all the craziness starts.  My Dr. is trying to take me off Effexor and the Cymbalta but in the past I suffered from all the symptoms everyone else on this website experienced--particularly the shocking sensation.  I'm down to 75 mg daily on the Effexor but I'm getting ready to start a new job and am concerned.  Has anyone else experienced REM Sleep Disorder and what did you do to quiet your nights?  Did a reduced dosage help the sleeping disorder or am I (and my husband) doomed to experience this Thanks so much....until I find the answer it will be Sleepless in Texas!

Ask your doctor for Mirapex (SP?) It is for parkinsins disease but it is also you for periodic limb movements and restless leg syndrome. I used to beat up my husband every night until I got this new medicine.  I take Klolonopin .5mg to help me sleep and just added mg to cymbalta, now I take 120mg 1x daily. You are basicly shutting off the part of the brain that acts out your dreams with the Mirapex.    I don't have any side effects from it and I now take double than when I first started it.  I have taken Effexor but it made me very anxious.  Good luck with your meds.
