Raise dopamine levels

by mallard2904, Mar 24, 2007 12:00AM
I am taking Effexor 150 mg and wellbutrin 300 mg. I haven't had any bad side effects, it has helped a bit but not enough. We are having trouble raising my dopamine levels (feelings of pleasure). I dread getting up, I'm not sad I'm not happy - just blah and unmotivated. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything that has helped you or suggestions what other medication could be added to this combo that would take it to the next level and help. Maybe 7 weeks on this medication is too short of a time and I need to be more patient. I don't know. All I know that life should feel better than this. I am definately better on the meds. When I am off my meds I am totally down and out. I think my condition is called dysphoria and/or anhedonia. Thanks in advance for your input.

I am glad you are feeling better on the meds .They truly improve our quality of life.Give them a little more time to work for you .
Now raise those dopamine and seretonin level by light exercise like taking a brisk walk or something like that .You will amazed how good you will feel.it doesnt have to be intense.Just walkingf or about 30 minutes will do the trick.
post back here how it goes.

My doctor has me on effexor too, and I feel like you, just blah. He thought it was my serotonin levels too and suggested a natural supplement which is a precurrsor to serotonin and can help raise levels. It is called 5htp and can be found at most nutrition centers. So far, 3 weeks later I dont' realize any benefit, but it is supposed to help.
