Self Inflicted

I got upset yesterday and scratched myself till my skin burned and was raw. Today I put neosporin on it about a half hour ago and it started burning again. I have 5 marks all the width of my tumb nail. One is about 2 and half inches long another one inch and three about a half an inch. They are all on my right fore arm. They are all also really brown and I have light tan skin. I am being treated with depression and ADD at the moment. I wanted to know what I should do about the marks on skin. Should I stick with the neosporin even though it burns or should I go to the walk in clinic?

Anything to treat a cut is likely to cause a burning sensation when there is a cut where the the underlying skin is exposed. That can happen. The more important thing is whether the cuts are healing and of most importance is why you might have done this. Is the first time? Is it regular? And if so how often? A doctor could easily address how to prevent any further infection (since this is a minor abrasion) and treat it. That might be needed. But more importantly speak to your psychiatrist about how to stop and prevent the potential of any action that is self harmful from occurring again.
