Starting Zoloft

by Anne68, Jan 04, 2009 04:43PM
About 5 months ago I was prescribed Prozac, it did nothing for me so I was prescribed Zoloft instead. It worked really well. When I was feeling great I decided to independently take myself off the drugs. The withdrawal was really nasty, but I got through it. Apparently, I still need the Zoloft because I am starting to feel the suicide thoughts come back. I tried taking my regular dose (150 mg) a couple of days ago. (after being off zoloft for probably one month). I became extremely dizzy and nausea was there, too. I am wondering what dose I should start myself on again, and the increments I should increase my dose.
Thank you

Annie

My suggestion is to start at the dose you originally started at. Going off any of these drugs cold turkey are simply nasty. You will see a difference in a dose or two. I remember when I first started on Luvox, the first of many of those drugs. I was so sick to my stomach, I thought I was going to die. I got an anti nauseant to deal with that, it helped which my brain adjusted itself.  So if you started at 50mgs, I would recommend that and then titrate yourself up over a week or two.

Probably would have been best to start at 50Mgs a day one week, then 100 one more week, then 150.

That way you can ease your system back to the origional dosage.
